It was great to see the scarlet colours of David Batten, owner of BUSKIN RIVER, grace the winner's enclosure again at Brighton yesterday. These colours have been in the family for generations and in their time have been worn by the winner of all 5 classics. BUSKIN RIVER may not be in that league but he won nicely yesterday and can hopefully go on and win again.
It was particularly pleasing to train a winner for David Batten as he is one of our oldest friends in Newmarket. When he retired from Tattersalls last year he promised that he would send both William Jarvis and ourselves a horse to train. He stuck to his word and it has worked out well as both horses have now won for him.
