Hopes for Dictatrix depend on ground

Sunday, June 3, 2007

DICTATRIX is hopefully running at Leicester tomorrow after being withdrawn from Yarmouth last week. She is very ground dependant and the ground dried up so quickly last week that she was taken out on the day as the ground became too firm for her. When she was declared for Leicester yesterday the ground was officially heavy, waterlogged in places. The weather in Newmarket this weekend has been very sunny and warm and if it has been the same at Leicester the ground is likely to have dried up considerably. If DICTATRIX does get the soft ground she likes she is capable of running well.

WHISTLEUPTHE WIND is running at Lingfield on Tuesday in a 6 furlong handicap on the turf. She has had a break since her winter all-weather campaign and is in good heart but may just need the run. She likes the opposite ground to DICTATRIX, the faster the better. The ground there is good at the moment but if they get no more rain it should be on the fast side by Tuesday. There are 18 runners in her race and she is drawn 5, not the best draw, a high draw is preferred on the straight track.
