BAINNE, a recent acquisition from the Horses In Training sales, makes her debut for the yard at Southwell tomorrow. She runs in a 5 furlong handicap and is drawn 2 of the 10 runners. She obviously hasn't been in the yard long but came looking very well from Jeremy Gask and has been pleasing us at home. Previous connections said she did things in a bit of a hurry so we are applying a hood for the first time tomorrow hoping this will help her to settle. She is going nicely in it at home and she is the type of filly that it may help.
She won 3 times in Ireland in 2013 so consequently ending up being high in the handicap. She is now back to a rating of 70 and she has won off a higher rating than this so hopefully she is now back to a competitive mark. She has won on soft ground so the fibresand surface at Southwell should suit her. It is a higher grade race than we would ideally be running her in but it is a bit of a fact finding mission to see if she handles the surface and if the hood helps her. If she does take to the fibresand then there are plenty of races for her there over the winter. It will be interesting to see how she runs tomorrow.
