Farewell to Welcome Stranger

WELCOME STRANGER made 85,000gns at the horses in training sales at Newmarket last week. It was sad to see him leave the yard as he has been a great servant. He was the highest price of the horses sold form Park Lodge and he has gone to the trainer, Gary Moore with a view to running him over hurdles. Chigorin also sold well, he made 28,000gns and the other horses that went to the sales all found new homes.

ORCADIAN ran a gallant race in the Group 1 Prix Royal Oak at Longchamp last Sunday. He led the field for a long way but clearly did not stay 2 miles. He will now drop back in trip as he is entered in the 12 furlong Listed race at Doncaster on Saturday. This is the final race of the 2005 turf season.

There could be 3 runners at Yarmouth on Friday. DICTATRIX makes her racecourse debut in a 6 furlong 2 year old maiden race. It will be nice to get her on the track before the turf season closes. ALLOUETTE is entered in a 10 furlong maiden race for 2 year olds and this trip should suit her well as she is definitely a stayer. AT THE MONEY need a few horse to come out of the mile nursery for him to get a run. James Eustace is really hoping that he does get in as he thinks he should run well. He has had to pass a stalls test before he can run as he failed to go in them last time out at Pontefract. The final runner of next week is likely to be BLUEBERRY TART at Wolverhampton on Saturday evening. She is in an 8 furlong fillies 56-70 rated handicap. She seems in good form at home so she could have a chance. She has not had much experience of the all weather but hopefully she will adapt to it well.

Finally, Harry Eustace made his first purchase at the yearling sales in Newmarket last Friday. He purchased a colt by Pursuit of Love for 8,000gns, which could prove to be real bargain. He has been bought for a partnership.
