Red Letter day for Dan Rosenbaum

Friday, September 23, 2005

It was a red letter day for owner DanRosenbaum today as he had his first winner in his own name and colours when CHIGORIN won in good style at Haydock. Although it was only a selling race CHIGORIN won it well and it was an above average race of that standard. James Eustace praised Haydock racecourse for putting on a selling race of this nature. The claiming price for any horse in this race was £20,000 and the minimum bid was £5,000, the norm is £3,000. In addition to this the racecourse only took 1/3 of the proceeds above the minimum selling price and a racecourse would normally take 50%. It would make selling races more attractive if more of this type were run.

Dan Rosenbaum has been very patient with CHIGORIN and hopefully the horse will be able to win again as long as he can find some more soft ground. He has another chance next Tuesday at Nottingham in a 10 furlong handicap. He will carry a penalty for his win today but James Eustace thinks the handicapper will put him up more than the amount of the penalty. He will only run though if the ground is soft enough for him.

ELM’S SCHOOL BOY is running at Brighton tomorrow in a banded race over 10 furlongs. This is hopefully his optimum trip as ho found 12 furlongs too far last time he ran and a mile too short before that. His dam won at Brighton so hopefully he can follow suit. He should be capable of winning a race at this grade.
