SANDY COVE coped well with the blustery conditions at Brighton yesterday to win his first race of his career. The step up in trip suited him well and he won by a length. He was cheered to victory by his owners, Blue Peter Racing 12, and he looks as if he will give them some fun this summer. He is a very straightforward and consistent horse and likes fast ground. There are still shares available in the horse, please see the Blue Peter Racing website for further details.
NIMBLE KIMBLE runs at Nottingham tomorrow in a fillies handicap over a mile. This is her first run over this trip but she gives the impression she will stay further. She seems to act on any surface and currently the going is good. The only worry if the ground did become soft it may test her stamina too much. She is drawn 10 of the 10 runners but hopefully with that size of field the draw won't be too influential. The horses are in good from and she should run well.
ICE SLICE runs at the same track on Saturday. He too is stepping up to a mile for the first time but it should suit him. He is dropping down in grade to 0-75 from a 0-85 which he should appreciate. He ran well in his first run for the yard, finishing 5th over 7 furlongs at Lingfield in a hot race. The 4th horse boosted the form by winning a good handicap at Doncaster. The slight question mark is what is his ideal ground on turf, he ran well on good/firm as a 2 year old but is unproven on a soft surface. Graham Lee takes the ride so he will have every assistance from the saddle and should run well.
