Runners dependant on ground

Monday, September 5, 2005

The runners entered at the end of the week are dependant on ground conditions but there are 2 definite runners at Leicester tomorrow. COLTON makes his second appearance on a racecourse in a 7 furlong maiden race. He is a big horse and a nice prospect for next year but should run respectably tomorrow. Depending on how he runs tomorrow he may have one more run this season or be put away for next year. PRINCESS GALADRIEL runs in the 7 furlong handicap on the same card. She was a bit disappointing last time but she got bumped early on and it knocked her out of the race. She will be equipped with a pair of blinkers tomorrow, she has run well in cheek pieces before. If the blinkers have the desired effect she could run well but she is still a bit high in the handicap.

James Eustace will be keeping a close on the weather before deciding what runs over the weekend. ORCADIAN is entered in the Troy Stakes, a Listed race, at Doncaster on Friday but rain is needed for him to run there. The same applies to CHIGORIN who is entered at Chester on Saturday. On the other hand WELCOME STRANGER, who is entered in Group 3 Select Stakes at Goodwood on Sunday prefers fast ground. Hopefully the ground will be favourable somewhere to allow one or more of these horses to take their chance.
