Firstly it was good to see MAJOR CRISPIES run such a promising race at Leicester yesterday finishing third in a good maiden. As he is the yard's first 2 year old runner of the season it gives us a good yardstick. It was also especially pleasing for the owner, Guy Carstairs, who had a miserable year last year but kept faith in the yard and bought a yearling. It looks as if his loyalty will be rewarded. There are 3 runners tomorrow, GIFT OF MUSIC at Lingfield, followed by TIGHT LIPPED and SPA'S DANCER at Sandown in the evening.
GIFT OF MUSIC runs in a 7 furlong fillies handicap at Lingfield on the polytrack. She has won on this surface at Wolverhampton but hasn't run at Lingfield before. She is stepping up in trip which looked the obvious way forward after her last run. When Luke Morris won on her he said then that she should get further and her dam stayed so hopefully it is the right decision and she must have a decent chance tomorrow.
TIGHT LIPPED runs in the first race at Sandown, a 10 furlong handicap. He was a close third last time out at Newmarket over the same distance, his first time over this trip. He ran well on this course last year over a mile on ground quicker than ideal for him. The ground should be more in his favour tomorrow and the trip of 10 furlongs seems to suit him. Ryan Tate rides him again and he seems to get on well with the horse and knows him well now, he still claims a valuable 5 pounds which could all help his chance. SPA'S DANCER runs in the finale, a mile handicap. He has good form on this track including his last run when he finished a close second . Ryan Moore is on board so hopefully we can supply with him another winner. The rain has changed the ground in favour of both horses at Sandown. None of the runners have the best of draws but they are all in good form and all ran well last time out so hopefully they will be thereabouts tomorrow.
