Welcome Stranger gallant second

Sunday, June 26, 2005

WELCOME STRANGER excelled himself yesterday to finish second in the Listed race at Windsor. He ran his usual honest race and really had to dig deep as he was off the bridle most of the way. They went very fast early on but the pace of the race suited WELCOME STRANGER even though he was a bit outpaced in the early stages. It was a really tough performance and although he never looked like beating the winner, he was a clear second. This was a great performance especially considering he was worst in at the weights. The winner, Hazyview, won a group 3 race recently and his last run was in group 1 company so he is a very decent horse.

WELCOME STRANGER is now going to be stepped up in class further and is being aimed at a Group 3 race on July 9th. This race is on the polytrack at Lingfield. He won on this surface as a 3 year old so he does handle the surface so James Eustace thinks it is worth having a go. WELCOME STRANGER is a great credit to the yard as he always gives his best and seems to thrive on his racing.
