Welcome Stranger's Hunt Cup hopes

WELCOME STRANGER could be James Eustace’s only representative at Royal Ascot at York this week but he definitely has a chance especially if the rain stays away and he gets a favoured low draw. He ran an excellent trial in the Hambleton Stakes on the same track on his last run. The race should be run to suit him, the faster they go they better it will suit him. James Eustace has won this race before with Refuse to Lose so hopefully it is a lucky race for him. The obvious danger, providing he gets in the race, is the lightly weighted Eden Rock trained by Sir Michael Stoute.

ORCADIAN does have an entry at the Royal meeting on Saturday in the Hardwick Stakes. He has been left in the race in case it does rain alot as he does love soft ground and it wouldn’t necessarily suit some of the other runners. He is also entered in a Listed race at Pontefract on Sunday so he will run there if the rain does not materialise.

There are lots of other runners across the country during the week. MISTER AZIZ has a good chance of breaking his duck today at Brighton in a 7 furlong maiden handicap. He has been running well lately and deserves to win a race. He has a good draw today and hopefully will handle the track as he is not a big horse. The firm ground should not inconvenience him either. IINPURSUIT runs at Windsor tonight in a 10 furlong maiden. He ran well in a mile maiden last time and has come on for that run. He should run well but there are some smartly bred newcomers and lightly race horses in the race so it is hard to weigh up the opposition.

On Wednesday night 3 horse are entered at Nottingham. TRANSACTION is trying a visor for the first time, he ran in blinkers last time but when he hit the front he went all over the place so hopefully the visor will be more suitable. He seems to be coming to form so if the visor has the desired effect he could run well. RAFFISH and GENEROUS MEASURE are both entered in the 14 furlong handicap on the same card. They could both take their chance as there are so few opportunities for 3 year olds over this trip.

WHISSTLEUPTHEWIND makes her first appearance on a racecourse at Wolverhampton on Thursday. She has been working nicely at home and seems to have a great attitude. She should run well providing she does not run too green.DEMI TASSE heads for Beverley that evening to contest a 12 furlong median maiden and there are only 10 entries. Hopefully she won’t mind a late night as the race is not until 9.30pm. She will definitely improve for the step up in trip and she seems very genuine and really tries. She was fourth last time out at Folkestone so if she improves on that she should be in the shake up. The only slight worry is that this will be her third run in a short space of time but it is an ideal race for her.

AT THE MONEY heads for Lingfield on Saturday to contest a 7 furlong auction race. He ran very well on his debut at Leicester and this should be a weaker race. The extra furlong should suit him so he should be thereabouts but would not want the ground to be too firm.
