Scottish Star gets in at Newbury

Thursday, September 20, 2012
SCOTTISH STAR runs in a 12 furlong handicap at Newbury tomorrow and there are only 9 runners. He wasn't expected to get in the race as there was a large entry so it was pleasant surprise that he made the cut. He should like the track as he is big long striding horse and the step up in trip should suit him too. It has always been the plan to run him over further but up to now he has still been a bit green in his races. He ran yet another good race at York last time out and that day he looked ready to try a step up in trip. James Doyle gets the ride and his style of riding should be ideal for him. He is an interesting horse for the futire and should run well again tomorrow.
DENTON DANCER makes a quick reappearance at Lingfield tomorrow in a 10 furlong handicap. He ran a good race on Monday, admittedly in a weak contest, but he settled well early on and stayed on in the closing stages. He needs fast ground so he is running again quickly before the ground goes against him. He seems to have come out of his last race well so let's hope he can run another good race. We have always thought he had ability so hopefully he is at last beginning to show it. He ran in selling company last time and this race is a normal handicap but it does not look a strong contest. Andrea Atzeni gets the ride on him tomorrow.
