Quiet week ahead

Saturday, May 28, 2005

It is a relatively quite week ahead but it is great to have some warmer weather at last and the horses are all benefitting from it. The only drawback is that the ground is now on the firm side everywhere and some of the entries this week will only run if there is rain. INNPURSUIT is due to run at Leicester on Monday in a mile median maiden. This will be his first run of the season so he will need the run but has been working respectably at home. James Eustace thinks he will get further than a mile but he he has been working well enough over 7 furlongs to suggest he can run well over this trip. If the race cuts up he could be thereabouts but if it is a hot race he is likely to find 1 or 2 too good for him.

CHIGORIN is entered at Leicester on Tuesday but needs rain so is an unlikely runner. ELM'S SCHOOL BOY is entered at Wolverhampton on Wednesday and Brighton on Thursday but the preference is for Wolverhampton. He will need a few horses to come out of the race but if he gets in he could run well as he is in good form at home. It is an apprentice race so Holly Hall will be in the saddle, he is a straightforward ride so should be suited by this type of race.

A the end of the week, HIGH CARD has a choice of engagements. He is entered at Sandown on Thursday and Haydock on Friday. He will run where the ground is best, he ideally needs soft ground. He is being dropped back to a mile this time as he ran a bit free at Leicester last time over 10 furlongs.
