Across the card double

VIKING ROSE and SCOTTISH STAR produced an across the card double  yesterday. Both horses were also owned by Jeff Smith who has been a great supporter of the yard from the beginning so it was particularly pleasing to get the turf season off to such a great start for him . He also bred VIKING ROSE and she will be returning to the stud as a broodmare once her racing days are over. If she passes on her toughness and willingness to her offspring then she will be a valuable addition to his broodmare band.

VIKING ROSE produced another game display at Yarmouth yesterday in testing conditions. She is so genuine and tough that you wouldn't know what ground she prefers as she does her best on all types of going. She has form on heavy and firm which is a great asset to have. She looks a stronger filly this year and has started the season well so, as long as she gets a bit of luck, she should keep going from strength to strength.

Luke Morris showed why he is one of the leading jockeys on the all weather tracks when getting SCOTTISH STAR to win on the line by a neck at Kempton last night. The horse was off the bridle the whole way but he never gave up on him. It was a very game performance by the horse too and it was great to get him back to form after a disappointing performance on the soft ground last time. He will hopefully go on from here.
