Handicap debut for A Boy Named Suzi

Sunday, June 5, 2011

A BOY NAMED SUZI makes his debut for the yard and it will be his first run in a handicap at Pontefract tomorrow. He is a nice horse and has been working well but it looks a competitive race for a 6 runner field. He is running over 10 furlongs and there is a slight worry it may be too far for him, a mile would have been ideal but James was keen to run him on the best ground available. The ground there should be fine but any showers that they may get before tomorrow would be beneficial. The horse was unlucky not to win as a 2 year old so has not been given too many favours by the handicapper but he will be an interesting runner tomorrow. It is his first run for the yard so he is a bit of an unknown but seems a nice horse and will hopefully make up into a fair handicapper.

NOVERTON, a 3 year old, makes her racecourse debut at Salisbury on Tuesday in a 7 furlong maiden. She has been working nicely but is very green so will definitely benefit from the experience. She has done all her work so far on the polytrack so has never even been on grass before. She should be a fun filly for the future.  They will hopefully get some rain there before Tuesday as she would not want the ground to be too firm.
