SCOTTISH STAR justified favouritism today at Lingfield. He did it the hard way in that he ended up making the running. He did tie-up slightly in the closing stages and also had a good look at the starting stalls beside the track which caused him to come off a true line and initiated a Stewards' Enquiry. The Enquiry seemed to go on for hours but eventually it was announced that all was well and the placings remained unaltered. SCOTTISH STAR has always promised to be a nice type of horse and is now beginning to fulfil that promise. There are no immediate plans for him. We will wait and see what the handicapper makes of his performance today.
BAAN did his level best at Ludlow to make it a memorable double under both codes. He ran a storming race at a massive price (50/1) to finish an honourable second, fulfilling the promise he showed on his hurdling debut at Leicester. The ground at Ludlow was genuinely good and this was possibly on the fast side for him. He may not be the biggest horse in the world but he certainly has a big heart and is making up into a cracking hurdler.
