If the weather doesn't intervene, James is hoping to have a runner over hurdles tomorrow and on the flat on Sunday. WESTER ROSS is declared to run at Wincanton but there is an inspection there in the morning as frost is expected overnight. He is stepping up slightly in trip as the race is over 2 miles 6 furlongs, a furlong further than he has run before. The question mark is whether he will handle the going as it could be very testing if it ends up being sticky ground. His last run was very respectable so if he does handle the ground he should run a sound race again. He seems in very good form at home.
On Sunday MARKSBURY runs in a fillies only handicap over a mile at Kempton. She has form on the track and although she won over 7 furlongs she has been second over a mile and this has always looked her best trip. She was a bit disappointing last time out but the race came possible too soon after her previous run and she was drawn very wide that day which gave her no chance. That form is best ignored. She has had a nice break since then and been freshend up. There are only 5 runners but it is an open contest, she is working well at home so must have a chance. She is entered in the Newmarket sales again in February. James would be delighted if he could carry on training her as she is a very genuine filly and a pleasure to have in the yard. She comes highly recommended.
