South African Strikes Gold

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

SOUTH AFRICAN GOLD won today at Lingfield.  He has always shown ability in his home work but suffered from a wind problem that was rectified by surgery in the summer.  Three of his four runs since have been encouraging culminating in his hard fought victory today.  He does seem to be growing in confidence now that he can breath properly.  I am delighted for his owner, William Mocatta, who has kept the faith despite many disappointments.  He was given a fine ride by Jack Mitchell who was deputising for Micky Fenton who got caught up in the bad traffic on the M25 caused by the severe weather conditions.  I hope that SOUTH AFRICAN GOLD can go from strength to strength from here.  He showed great resolution to put his head in front on the line.
