A short head short of a double

Monday, November 22, 2004

MISSED TURN failed by a short head to give Park Lodge an across the yard double on Saturday. James was delighted with the filly though as this is the first time she has shown any form for connections. In this grade she is certainly capable of winning a race. It was especially pleasing for her owners, Park Lodge Racing. They have had a frustrating time trying to run the filly as she has been balloted out so many times. It was not the plan to make the running with her but she had a good draw and broke well, the tactics so very nearly worked though as she was only caught in the last few strides of the race. ANDURIL finally broke his duck later that evening at Wolverhampton winning the selling race. He has however run his last race for Park Lodge as he was sold at the auction after the race.

There are a few runners later this week, GENEROUS MEASURE runs on Friday at Wolverhampton. This will only be his second race and he is sure to need it as he is a fairly backward type who still needs a bit more time to fully mature . On Saturday INNPURSUIT is running in a 10 furlong 10,000 maiden. This is a valuable race for a maiden on the all weather so could attract some nice individuals. It is a step up in trip for him but James feels that he should stay. MISTER AZIZ has been a victim of the balloting procedure several times lately. He is entered in a 5 furlong maiden on Saturday in the hope that will get a run. He clearly did not stay 7 furlongs last time he ran so the trip should suit him but he may not be quite good enough to win a maiden of this type.

MISSED TURN w ill be entered in nursery races at Wolverhampton next Monday and again at Wednesday but she could get balloted out again. Failing that she will wait for another selling race at the same track on December 6th. Now that she has found some form she should have a good chance wherever she next runs.
