South African Gold back on turf

Monday, May 17, 2010
SOUTH AFRICAN GOLD runs at Nottingham tomorrow in a 6 furlong handicap. He ran quite well on the all weather over the winter and was then given a break to come back for the turf season. He will like the ground and has been working nicely at home. He is drawn high which should be a good draw at Nottingham on the sprint course. His ideal trip is still a bit unknown. he is stepping back in trip tomorrow as he has always shown plenty of speed at home. He ran quite well over 9 furlongs last time out but didn't quite get home that day. He will be an interesting runner over this trip on the turf.
On Wednesday MARKSBURY makes her racecourse debut in a 3 year old fillies maiden at Goodwood. She has been working quite nicely at home but it looks a competitive race of its type. Hopefully she will aquit herself well and connections will learn a bit more about her from the race.
