War Artist wins first battle in Dubai

Friday, February 12, 2010
WAR ARTIST was expected to need his first run in Dubai but he won this Group 3 contest in good style. It was his first run on the Tapeta surface but he moved well on it and handled the bend well. James Eustace now has a pleasant dilemma of which race to go for on World Cup  night. He was originally thinking that the 6 furlong Group 3 race on the straight turf course worth a mere $1 million would be his race but he is now tempted by the $2 million Group1 contest run on the same track as last night.
It was very exciting to see WAR ARTIST win his prep race in such good style as he is fully expected to improve for the run. He has really only just come to himself out there. His next race will be a conditions race on the turf over a straight 6 furlongs on March 5th. Hopefully how he runs in this race will help the trainer decide which pot of gold to aim for on World Cup night!
