A great Hong Kong experience

Friday, December 18, 2009
WAR ARTIST ran disappointingly in Hong Kong but a great trip was had by all. It was an extremely competitive race, with 9 previous Group 1 winners running, it was conceivably the best sprint race run in the world this year. It appeared that WAR ARTIST did not handle racing round the bend and at this level you need everything in your favour. He is now home and appears to be fine so that is the main thing.
It was a great experience for the team that went and they were all extremely well looked after. The facilities for the horses were first class and the grooms and everyone else connected with the horse had a great trip and enjoyed the whole experience. They all enjoyed being part of such a great event.
Back to reality, WAR ARTIST'S galloping companion, WINTER FEVER, runs at Kempton on Sunday in a mile 85-100 rated handicap. He is a South African horse who came over to work with WAR ARTIST at home so this will be his first run in this country. He is running off a rating of 87 but has been rated higher than this in South Africa and Dubai. He has been working nicely at home so it will be interesting to see how he runs.
