Rain delays War Artist's comeback

Sunday, June 28, 2009
WAR ARTIST'S return to the racecourse has been delayed as heavy rain at Newcastle changed the going to soft. James Eustace did not want to run him on this ground first time out so his return to action will either be in the July Cup on July 10th or the group 3 Hackwood Stakes at Newbury 8 days later.
The next runner will now be JOE CASTER at Wolverhampton on Monday. He is a course winner but over 6 furlongs, tomorrow's race is over 1 furlong further but James Eustace does not anticipate it being a problem on this surface and track. The handicapper has dropped him down to a winning mark now and he is in good form at home so he should run a decent race.
KARKY SCHULTZ has been entered in a maiden and a handicap hurdle race at Stratford on Tuesday. He will only run if the ground is good to soft or softer. There is heavy rain forecast so hopefully so there is a good chance he will run. If not he will revert to the polytrack on the flat. The ground is definitely the key to him. He has come out of his last race at Warwick really well.
