After a quiet week last week there is hopefully plenty of action around the country to look forward to this week. LANDING STRIP heads for his favourite racecourse, Brighton, tomorrow. He does seem to like the sea air there and he is really bouncing at home. His form on the track has been disappointing and he is rather erratic but on his best form he has the ability to win this type of race .
On Thursday LAST APPOINTMENT runs in a 7 furlong handicap on the polytrack. He ran well over this course and distance 2 weeks ago from a bad draw so as long as he is drawn favourably he should have an outstanding chance. ANDURIL runs at the same meeting in a 10 furlong handicap on the turf. He has been a slightly frustrating horse but he does seem to like soft ground so hopefully one may see an improvement in his form.
WELCOME STRANGER is entered in a 0-90 classified stakes race at Thirsk on Friday. The ground could be a problem as he likes fast ground but he may run anyway as there are no suitable alternatives and the horse is in excellent form. On the same day MALAK AL MOULOUK is entered at Newcastle but he also has an engagement at Redcar on Saturday. He is more likely to run at Redcar as it is a more valuable race. He goes on soft ground but clearly did not stay 12 furlongs on this surface last time he ran. He is now reverting to 10 furlongs which should be ideal.
Over the weekend BLUE PATRICK is also bound for Redcar. He ran well at Kempton last week and the straight mile at Redcar should be ideal for him. He seems to go on any ground. He has come out of the Kempton race really well and probably needed it after a slight lay off. Hopefully he should be spot on for the race on Saturday. On Sunday CHIGORIN is entered at Yarmouth. James cannot explain his poor performance last time at Newmarket as he is definitely better than that. Hopefully he can bounce back to form at Yarmouth.
