A trio of runners tomorrow

Monday, April 27, 2009
There are 3 runners tomorrow, 2 on the polytrack at Lingfield and 1 at Nottingham. GENERAL ZHUKOV has come on from his first run of the season at Yarmouth but will probably find one or two too good for him tomorrow at Lingfield. He is running in a mile median auction maiden, there are several horses with some placed efforts to their name and have run on the all weather before. The track and surface may not be ideal for him but the turf is too firm for him at the moment. TURKISH LOKUM runs in a 7 furlong fillies handicap on the same card. Like most of the other runners, she will probably need this first run but should run a nice race.
MISTER STANDFAST heads for Nottingham and carries top weight in a 10 furlong handicap. William Carson will take a valuable 5 pounds off his back and he has been riding him out at home so knows the horse well. He has a terrible draw, 16 of 16, right on the outside. The trip is a bit of an unknown and it is a bit of a gamble stepping up this far. Any rain would be appreciated but the going is reasonable at the moment.
