A 41-1 double at York yesterday made it 3 winners in 4 days for the in form Park Lodge stables. It is hard enough to have one winner at the Knavesmire so to notch a double was a great achievement. ANATOLIAN QUEEN, partnered by Kevin Darley, battled on well to land the 7 furlong fillies maiden by a length. The plan will be to try and get some black type with her now so she could head next for a fillies listed race at Ascot or a listed race at Goodwood later in the month. Failing that a trip abroad is a possibility.
The second leg of the double was provided by TRANSACTION, ridden by Ted Durcan. He ran on in good style to capture the 6 furlong median auction maiden race by ½ length. He is a tough horse and takes his racing really well. His main target will be the Doncaster Sales bonus race in September but there is a valuable auction race at Ascot at the end of July which could be an option along the way.
The third winner in this golden spell was ARIODANTE at Lingfield last Wednesday. He again battled on gamely and despite still running a bit green scored nicely and looks a nice horse for the future. He could also be aimed at the Ascot auction race.
It is very encouraging to see the 2 year olds running so well, they are clearly a nice bunch which all bodes well for the future. There will be no runners now until the end of the week but lets hope this rich vein of form continues then.
