2 runners at Great Leighs tomorrow

Friday, September 12, 2008
Warwick was washed away last Wednesday but at least the weather shouldn't upset running plans on the all weather at Great Leighs tomorrow. LADY AVENGER runs in the 5 furlong handicap but she has got an almost impossible task being drawn 13 of the 14 runners. She has run well on this track before but she is going to find it very difficult from such a wide draw. RUBACUORI has not faired much better as he is drawn 11 of 16 runners in a mile handicap there. His best run in this country has been on the polytrack and he is bred to be a dirt horse. The track, trip and surface will suit him but it does look a competitive race on paper and the draw could be a hindrance.
On Sunday WESTER ROSS heads for Goodwood. He is stepping up in trip again to 2 miles having run very well over 2 furlongs shorter at Salisbury last time out. He stayed on well that day and looked as if an extra 2 furlongs would not inconvenience him. He has been running consistently well lately and deserves to get his head in front. He seems to go any ground but James would prefer it not to get too soft as he is unproven on a really soft surface.
