2 year olds hitting form

Wednesday, June 30, 2004

The 2 year olds ran particularly well last week, both HIGHLAND CASCADE and TRANSACTION finished second in their respective races. James is hoping that DRALION will run well this evening at Yarmouth, he is a half brother to RAPSCALION and ORCADIAN so has a lot to live up to. The opposition looks strong but he has been working nicely at home and he will hopefully not run too green on his debut and will give a good account of himself. WELCOME STRANGER is also running tonight at Yarmouth and must go close as he ran very well at Lingfield. He looks as if he is coming back to form.

BLUE PATRICK is another horse who seems to be finding his form and he heads for Newbury in Thursday for a 7 furlong handicap. Hopefully this trip on this track should be ideal for him. On the same day FINAL DIVIDEND runs at Yarmouth in an amateur race. He needed the race at Ripon and has definitely come on for the run. It is the type of race that should suit him as long as the ground is not too firm.

Entries have been made for both ANDURIL and ROMANTIC GIFT at Haydock on Thursday but they are unlikely to run unless the ground changes dramatically and becomes soft. ANDURIL also has an entry at Leicester on Saturday but again will only run if it rains significantly.

LIGHT BRIGADE has been found an ideal opportunity at Warwick on Friday. James has decided to drop him back in trip to a mile in an effort to find the winning formula, let’s hope this does the trick.

At the weekend OVERRIDE is entered in a 7 furlong classified stakes race at Leicester on Saturday which should be an ideal contest for him. His next engagement after that is the July Sales at Newmarket next Thursday. James thoroughly recommends the horse and would be very keen to keep him in the yard if he could find a suitable owner/owners. On Sunday LANDING STRIP heads for his favourite course, Brighton. He ran a more encouraging race last time out at Bath so hopefully he could have a chance as long as the ground remains fast.
