July Cup next for runner up War Artist

Sunday, June 22, 2008
WAR ARTIST ran a terrific race yesterday to finish second to Kingsgate Native in the Group 1 Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot. It was a very strong international field with group or graded winners from 8 countries in the line up. To finish in the frame in such company was a fantastic achievement. Interestingly the first 5 home were drawn from the 5 lowest stalls, War Artist being the lowest in stall 1. All the speed in the race was on his side of the track, he had every chance in the race but just met one too good on the day. His next target is the July Cup at the Newmarket July meeting and he must now have a great chance in that race.
Back to the normal mid week racing, BLUE ARCTIC is the next runner at Newbury on Tuesday evening. She runs in a maiden fillies auction race over 6 furlongs. She ran a promising race first time out finishing third at Yarmouth. It may be a more competitive race on Tuesday but she should run well having had the benefit of a previous run.
