Busy week ahead

Tuesday, June 22, 2004

It is a busy week coming up with plenty of chances spread across the country. LANDING STRIP is running at Bath tomorrow evening and he is beginning to come to himself now. Hopefully he will run a lot better than he has done so far this season but the race is more competitive than James had anticipated.

CONSIDINE is heading for Newcastle on Thursday and will take on older horses for the first time. Staying 3 year olds do get a favourable weight advantage from older horses at this time of year so it should not be a problem. He seems to have come on again since Yarmouth, he is obviously an improving horse. The ground should not be a worry as he has shown he acts on any ground and the trip of 2 miles should suit him. TRANSCATION is due to make his second appearance on a racecourse at Leicester that evening. He ran very well at the beginning of the season to finish third but then had a growth spurt. He has filled out a lot now so he could possibly need the run but he has been working nicely. On Friday evening FOUR KINGS runs in a claiming race at Newmarket. The race is over a mile which appears to be the right distance for him and he should have a chance if things go well for him.

CHIGORIN travels to Newcastle on Saturday to run in a 20,000 handicap. James thought it was worth having a go at such a good prize. He has shaped up well after his run at Sandown but he is still a bit of a big baby and will need things to go well for him but he could have a real chance.

On Sunday HIGHLAND CASCADE goes to Windsor for a novice auction race which should not be as competitive as her last race at Yarmouth where she ran well to finish third. She has a nice racing weight of 8st 6lbs so could run well. The action continues at Windsor on Monday night where Malak Al Moulak is making his seasonal reappearance in a 0-65 classified stakes race over 10 furlongs. Hopefully there will still be a bit of juice in the ground and he could run well even though it is his first run of the year. He did nothing wrong last year in his 3 runs.

There were a few promising runs last week from horses that could be winning races soon. WELCOME STRANGER finished second at Lingfield so is hopefully coming back to his form of last year now. ARIODANTE made a very promising debut at Windsor on Monday to finish third and is definitely one for the notebook. ANATOLIAN QUEEN also ran well to finish fourth, she possibly just got a little bit tired in the ground as it was quite cut up by the last race after some heavy rain.
