2 chances today across the country

Tuesday, May 6, 2008
James Eustace saddles 2 horses with chances today at opposite ends of the country. SZABA runs in a 6 furlong handicap at Chepstow and will wear blinkers for the first time. It is not that she is ungenuine in any way but she has hit a flat spot in the middle of her races at Lingfield. This may be the track but the blinkers may just help her to travel better throughout the race. The straight track at Chepstow should also help. She was not beaten far last time out so should have a good each way chance today.
CAVENDISH is running this evening at Catterick. He has been put up a hefty 9 pounds by the handicapper but he should still have a good chance. He runs over 2 furlongs further than last time and the way he won that day he looked as if he could be better over a longer trip. Let's hope that is the case today.
Tomorrow POCHARD is making a quick reappearance after her win last Friday. She has come out of the race really well and is running in a fillies and mares only hurdle race at Fakenham over 2 1/2 miles. This is a drop back in trip which is not ideal but she is fit and well so can hopefully strike again as long as the ground does not dry out too much.
COLTON has had a break and is back in action over hurdles at Huntingdon tomorrow evening. He will love the ground and the track suits him as he has been placed there before. He may just need the run but if not he could run well too.
