Cavendish wins at long odds

CAVENDISH sprung a suprise at Yarmouth last night winning at 25-1. James Eustace was particularly pleased as he had a fiver each way on the Tote! It is always nice to get the first winner of the turf season under your belt and hopefully he can go on and win again. He seemed to relish the step up in trip and should stay further. If he comes out of the race well he could make a quick reappearance at Southwell on Tuesday over 2 miles on the turf.
SECOND OPINION is running in a handicap for the first time today at Nottingham. She ran well at this track first time out as a 2 year old last year over 6 furlongs. It is a furlong shorter today which could be a bit on the sharp side for her but the soft ground will make it more of a test of stamina. She hasn't run on such soft ground before but certainly doesn't like firm ground. She was disappointing last year on firm ground over 5 furlongs but she did not let herself down that day so that ran can be ignored. James Eusace would have preferred to run her over 6 furlongs on better ground but todays race is for fillies only and there are not many of these types of races so one has to take a chance when one comes along.
