Pochard tries the fibresand

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

POCHARD, who has been running over hurdles this winter, reverts to 2 miles on the flat at Southwell tomorrow. Her owners would like to breed from her eventually so are keen to win a race on the flat with her. She has not run on the fibresand before but likes soft ground on the turf so will hopefully act well on it. She stayed on well at Folkestone last time out so should get the trip but it is her first time over this distance on the flat. She has top weight tomorrow but should run well.

SZABA has 2 entries at the weekend but will run in the 5 furlong maiden at Lingfield on Saturday. She showed good speed first time out and was not beaten far. She would have needed that first run and at home she seems to have come on for the race. She is in good form and should go close on Saturday.

James Eustace was hoping to run CAVENDISH over hurdles at Warwick on Saturday but he is unlikely to get in the race. This is rather frustrating as there are no other suitable races for him at the moment so he will probably run on the flat next time.
