Royal Ascot next for Orcadian

Monday, May 31, 2004

ORCADIAN ran a very good race on Saturday to finish 3rd in the Listed Heron Stakes. He is going to be dropped back in trip next time and is going to take his chance in the 7 furlong Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot. WELCOME STRANGER found the 1 miles too far for him today at Sandown but it was worth a try and he will now revert back to a shorter trip.

CONSIDINE has a good chance tomorrow evening at Sandown in a mile and 6 furlong handicap. James thinks he is reasonably well in and he has a nice racing weight of 8st 8lbs. It is a step up in class for him but he will definitely get the trip. The unknown factor is the ground as it is very different from the conditions he encountered on his last run at Pontefract when he won.

On Friday LAST APPOINTMENT runs at Goodwood. He should run well if he runs up to the form of his last run when he was 5th on the same track. It looks an easier contest and the race should have bought him on. He likes fast ground and hopefully the ground will remain that way for him.
