First runners of the New Year this Friday

Wednesday, January 2, 2008

James Eustace starts the New year with 2 runners over hurdles at Lingfield on Friday. CAVENDISH is running in a 4 year olds only juvenile maiden over 2 miles. He was a bit disappointing at Newbury last time out but the jockey that day felt he was put off when badly squeezed early in the race. The blinkers probably didnít help him in that situation so they are being left off on Friday. He has schooled well without them at home so hopefully he will in a race too but it is a slight experiment. In view of his bad experience last time out the jockey will try to give him a bit more room at his hurdles on Friday with out making the running. POCHARD is the other runner on Friday, she runs in a 4 year olds and upwards novice hurdle also over 2 miles. She jumped well at Newbury on her debut and has schooled even better since the race. It was a very hot race at Newbury and she got tired in the closing stage, hopefully she can finish closer this time. She will ultimately run over fences.

COLTON was also entered on Friday but he will not run as he needs faster ground. He jumped very well on his last run at Newbury and finished 8th in a very hot race. He seems to be really enjoying his jumping and he should be suited by the summer jumping season as the ground will be more in his favour. James Eustace is very pleased with the way he has taken to hurdles.
