Coulton makes debut over hurdles today

Thursday, November 8, 2007

COULTON makes his debut over hurdles at Huntingdon today. There are only 7 runners and one of them, Sir Haydn, has been second already over hurdles but apart from that it looks an open race. He has done plenty of schooling at home and has taken to hurdling very well. If he can jump round today as well as he schools he should run a respectable race.

KARKY SCHULTZ runs on Friday evening at Wolverhampton in a 9 furlong nursery. He ran well in a good nursery over 7 furlongs at Doncaster last time out and looked as if a step up in trip would suit him. He has also been dropped a hefty 7 pounds by the handicapper which should give him a bit of a chance.

The continuous dry spell has delayed CAVENDISH’s debut over hurdles. He is entered at Market Rasen on Sunday but there is unlikely to be enough rain by then. He is more likely to run back on the flat at Wolverhampton on Monday. He is entered in a 12 furlong handicap there and James Eustace wants to try different tactics on him over this longer trip. He usually makes the running but the plan will be to drop him in this time.
