Lady Avenger runs in Group 1

Wednesday, October 3, 2007

LADY AVENGER is taking her chance in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on Friday. Once again she has not got the best of draws, drawn 2 of the 14 runners. As expected it is a very competitive race but she has come out of the Ayr race really well and is expected to have come on for the run. The Ayr race was her first run after a summer break and her preparation was slightly rushed to get there. Under the circumstances she ran a sound race as she probably hit the front a bit soon that day. She needs to be produced as late as possible.

James Eustace is hoping for a bold show at a long price provided she settles well and doesn’t hang. Kerrin McEvoy will be back in the saddle and he knows her well. He will be aiming to produce her with as late a run as possible. There is a slight question mark over whether she is better over 5 or 6 furlongs. The answer to this will be provided on Friday. Providing she comes out of Friday’s race well she could run again before the season finishes. Having had a summer break she is still relatively fresh. The Cornwallis at Ascot and a Listed race at York are 2 possible races for her.
