Sunny Sprite makes belated debute

Monday, August 27, 2007

SUNNY SPRITE was due to make his racecourse debut at Yarmouth last Monday but the weather intervened and the meeting was abandoned. James Eustace was disappointed as the conditions of the race were ideal for him and thought he had a good chance there. He is now all set to run at Lingfield on Thursday in a 6 furlong maiden on the polytrack. He is a nice big horse who goes well at home. The one worry on Thursday is that he may find the track a bit on the sharp side for him but if he does handle it he should run well.

Tomorrow ARIODANTE is running in a claiming race at Lingfield on the Polytrack. He is in to be claimed for £8,000 which is a fair price. He just hasn’t hit form this season but is now down to a winning handicap mark if he can re find his form. He has run well on the polytrack before and he will wear blinkers tomorrow in an effort to re kindle his enthusiasm. If this tactic works he could run well now he is dropped in class.

There are 2 runners on Friday at Wolverhampton. COULTON is running over 12 furlongs for the first time. On the way he has run on his last 2 runs he looks as if he should get this trip. He seems to be coming to himself now and ran a more encouraging race last time out. Although he is a big horse he has run well at Wolverhampton before so the track shouldn’t be a worry. PERFECT POPPY is entered in a claiming race and a seller on the same card. She will contest whichever looks the weaker event. She is of limited ability but does seem well in herself.

WHISTLEUPTHEWIND ran another sound race yesterday at Yarmouth finishing third. She did the best of those drawn high. If the ground continues to dry up she should hopefully get back to winning ways before too long.
