DOUBLE ON RED ran today at Doncaster. We were very hopeful of a good run but sadly it was not to be. She had appeared to have come on from her Ascot run at home. The ground was fast at Doncaster and it is very possible that like her two brothers, RAPSCALLION and ORCADIAN, she would prefer soft ground. We will wait for another 7 furlong maiden on softer ground before running again. Today's form was so far below her Ascot form I cannot believe it to be true. The ground at Ascot was on the soft side of good.

Looking forwards we have COLTON running at Newmarket in the last tomorrow. He has yet to regain his form of last year. I can find no physical reason why. We can only keep trying.

We have three possible runners on Monday depending on ground. SUNNY SPRITE is an unraced two year old who runs at Yarmouth. He is a very big horse for a two year old but he has been working well at home. I do like him. He would not want soft ground. POPPY PERFECT has bottom weight in the Claimer at Yarmouth. She showed speed at Wolverhampton last time in first time blinkers over 7 furlongs but did not last home. I have dropped her back to 6 furlongs and we intend to ride her differently and hold her up. ARIODANTE is in a Seller at Windsor. He also is struggling to find his form of last year but is still quite capable of featuring in a selling race. He prefers fast ground.
