Continuous wet weather leads to quiet week

Tuesday, July 3, 2007

It looks as if it will be a quiet week this week as the rain continues to fall everywhere. COLTON is going to take his chance at Yarmouth on Thursday but he is unproven on soft ground. He is running in a 10 furlong handicap at Yarmouth, he is a course and distance winner but on fast ground. With the forecast no brighter James Eustace thought he may aswell run and see how he does cope with the current underfoot conditions.

WHISTLEUPTHEWIND surprised everyone slightly last Saturday with the way she handled the soft ground, finishing third at Newmarket. She seems to be coming back to her form of last summer. The only other possible runner this week is FARSIGHTED, at Nottingham on Saturday evening. She is a 2 year old owned by Blue Peter Racing 7 and this will be her racecourse debut. If the ground does remain as soft as it is at the moment she may wait until the following week when there will hopefully be some better weather. Surely summer will arrive soon!
