Rain could spoil Ariodanteís chances

ARIODANTE is declared for Brighton on Tuesday but James Eustace is worried that the wet forecast could upset his plans. At the moment the ground is good/firm which he would like, if the ground did become soft he would not run. He would have a good chance as he is a course and distance winner and Ryan Moore, who won on him before, is booked to ride him. He won a £30,000 handicap at Brighton last season so if he reproduced that form he should have a winning chance.

KARKY SCHULTZ has a choice of engagements on Thursday but is almost certain to head for Newcastle for a 6f maiden auction race. His form has worked out really well so he should have a very good chance. He will like the ground and the stiffer track should suit him.

There are 2 possible runners at Warwick on Thursday but there must be some doubt about racing taking place there. The ground is heavy at the moment and more rain is forecast. BOLD BOBBY is entered in a maiden race there and she ran very well first time out at Yarmouth. CAVENDISH also has an entry at Warwick but he could get balloted out. He will like the soft ground if he does get a run.

WESTER ROSS is to step up in trip at Newmarket on Friday evening which should suit him. It was quite a hot race at Sandown last time out but he seems in good form at home so should run well. He is still a bit immature and is definitely a horse with a future.

Finally we must mention LADY AVENGERíS gallant run at Royal Ascot last week. She turned out to have the worst draw in 1 as all the winners all week seem to come from a high draw. She finished a highly respectable 7th, just out of the prizemoney. Her owner, Jeff Smith, had an excellent week with 2 winners and 2 fourths, congratulations to him.
