LADY AVENGER suffered a small setback yesterday and there is now a race against time to get her ready for the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot on Wednesday. She did her final piece of work on Friday and worked very well. However on Saturday morning she was slightly unsound and a problem in her foot was diagnosed. The foot has been poulticed and this morning James Eustace sounded hopefully that she would get there. There are 3 more days to go so as long as she continues to make good progress she should be in the line up on Wednesday. If she runs Kerrin McEvoy will ride her, he has ridden her in both her previous starts. Any rain that falls between now and Wednesday will be in her favour.
The only other runner over the next few days is PERFECT POPPY at Windsor tomorrow evening. She is being dropped down in class, as she runs in a selling race. She was a bit outpaced in her first race at Brighton but did run on in the closing stages. If she has improved for this run she could be thereabouts tomorrow and has the best draw, 12 of 12, as long as it doesn’t rain significantly. On soft ground at Windsor they tend to run up the far rail which favours a low draw.
