Plenty of action at Yarmouth

Tuesday, May 29, 2007

James Eustace has 5 horses declared to run at Yarmouth over the next 2 days. ANATOLIAN PRINCE and POCHARD are in action on Wednesday. ANATOLIAN PRINCE is running in a mile maiden which, strictly on handicap ratings, he has not got a great chance in but with the ground as it is he could spring a surprise. POCHARD will also like the ground and is capable of running a good race.

On Thursday, there are 3 intended runners at the seaside track. DICTATRIX has been disappointing on her last few runs but she will definitely appreciate the rain softened ground and stepping her up to 7 furlongs may help her to re find her form. She was a winner on heavy ground on this course as a 2 year old. FAST BOWLER is running in a mile handicap and James Eustace has always felt he would stay a mile and that he would also like soft ground. Thursday could be his chance to prove this, he seems in good form at home. CAVENDISH was a bit disappointing at Beverley last week but he broke badly from the stalls and didn’t handle the good/firm ground. He will be ridden more positively this time and he will also appreciate the softer ground.

As mentioned earlier in the week LADY AVENGER is running at Sandown on Thursday evening in the Listed National Stakes. There are 8 declared runners and she is drawn 3. This is not the best draw but with only 8 runners the draw shouldn’t be too significant. It will be interesting to see how she runs in this step up in class.

On Saturday KARKY SCHULTZ, a 2 year old, makes his racecourse debut at Folkestone in a maiden auction race providing the ground does not dry up significantly. BOLD BOBBY is also entered there, in a 5 furlong maiden but she will also only run if the ground remains on the soft side of good. She was due to run last week at Leicester but was withdrawn because the ground was too firm.
