Impressive debut by Lady Avenger

Wednesday, May 23, 2007

James Eustace was delighted to get his first 2 year old winner of the season with his first runner. LADY AVENGER overcame a bad draw and a bump coming out of the stalls to win impressively at Windsor on Monday night in the hands of Kerrin McEvoy. The dilemma is where to run next. The way she won would have to make you think about going to Royal Ascot for the Queen Mary. There is a choice of 2 races she could take in before then or she could go straight there. There is a novice race back at Windsor 2 weeks after her win or there is the Listed National Stakes at Sandown on May 31st. The latter race could just come a bit soon for her. She seems to have come out of the race well though.

FLASH OF FIRE will become the second 2 year old runner at Newmarket on Saturday. James Eustace does not have such a good strike rate at Newmarket as he does at Windsor. FLASH OF FIRE is a nice type of horse but is more of a staying type than LADY AVENGER and is not as sharp as her. He worked nicely yesterday morning so will hopefully run a nice race, Kerrin McEvoy has been booked to ride him.
