Lady Avenger makes debut tonight

Monday, May 21, 2007

LADY AVENGER will now be the first 2 year old runner of the season at Windsor this evening. She is a nice filly who has been working well at home and probably has enough speed to win over 5 furlongs. She has got a bad draw tonight unless it rains. This sounds strange but if the ground becomes soft a low draw is better. James Eustace has had a few winning 2 year olds at Windsor from a bad draw so it can be done. It is hard to tell with so little form to go on but it is probably a hot contest with a lot of trainer’s trying to give their ‘Queen Mary’ fillies a run on the racecourse before Royal Ascot. She should run a nice race but it will be a hard race to win.

Tomorrow there are 3 runners at 3 different meetings but the ground is a key factor for all of them. The ground is changing daily at the moment so it hard to predict what it will be when you have to declare 48 hours before a race. POCHARD runs at Lingfield, where they are most likely to get rain, this would help her chance. CAVENDISH is declared at Beverley where the ground is on the fast side of good at the moment. He really needs a bit more rain to be seen at his best. The third runner is BOLD BOBBY, she runs in a 6 furlong maiden at Leicester. It is her first run and James Eustace is pleased to get her to the racecourse. She was a backward filly as a 2 year old and she was not in training at Park Lodge last year. She is by Pivotal and will probably need more cut in the ground than she will get tomorrow.
