Small field for At The Money's hurdling debut

Tuesday, February 20, 2007

AT THE MONEY’S hurdling debut has been delayed by the wet ground but he is one of only 6 horses declared in a 2 mile novice hurdle at Lingfield tomorrow. There is a precautionary inspection in the morning but hopefully the rain will stay away. James Eustace did not want him ideally to start his jumping career on such soft ground but with the current underfoot conditions everywhere it has been impossible. He does like soft ground on the flat but it is obviously more testing having to jump out of heavy ground. He has not run for over 3 months but he seems pretty fit and will hopefully run well if he takes to the hurdling. His schooling at home has gone smoothly but the racecourse is the real test. He has all the right credentials to make a good jumper so let’s hope he makes a solid start tomorrow.

It looks as if WHISTLEUPTHEWIND won’t have too many opponents in her race on Saturday too. She is entered in a 6 furlong handicap at Lingfield and amazingly there are only 10 horses entered. She does like the track and the trip should be ideal. She just need to have a bit of luck in running and have the race run to suit her. She seems in good form at home and if she can come back to her best form she would not be without a chance.
