Highland Cascade takes drop in class

Thursday, December 14, 2006

HIGHLAND CASCADE takes a drop in class tomorrow as she runs in a selling race at Wolverhampton over her optimum trip of 6 furlongs. She will have to overcome a bad draw, stall 11 of 13, but she has the highest rating in the race so she has a good chance on the books of regaining winning ways.

WESTER LODGE is an intended runner over hurdles at Ascot on Saturday. He has come out of his first run over hurdles very well and is in good form at home. He was a bit slow over his hurdles first time out so needs to speed up his jumping a bit but he seems to have taken to the obstacles well. He may find one or two too good for him this time out but he should be sharper for the experience.

Next Tuesday WHISTLEUPTHEWIND seems to have been found an ideal opportunity at Lingfield. She is rated 57 and it is a handicap for horses rated 46-58. She didnít quite look sharp enough for 6 furlongs in her last run so this race is back over 7 furlongs. She has finished 2nd over this course and distance before and ran well enough last time out to suggest she is coming back to herself. The blinkers have been left off in her last 2 runs but they will be put back on again on Tuesday as all her best form has been with them on. ARIODANTE runs at the same track the following day, Wednesday the 20th. He is dropping back to 12 furlongs and having had a recent run under his belt should run well. Suprisingly there are only 12 entries for the race so there may not be many runners. Most races at the moment are very oversubscribed.
