Ariodante tries longer trip

Thursday, December 7, 2006

It has been a quiet week but there is one runner over hurdles and two on the flat over the next 2 days. CETSHWAYO is running tomorrow in a selling hurdle race at Southwell. James Eustace just hopes they don’t get too much more rain as he prefers good ground. He has run there before over hurdles and jumps well so in this company he could go well depending on the ground. This will be his third run over hurdles so after this he will be eligible to run in handicaps.

ARIODANTE and HIGHLAND CASCADE are both running at Wolverhampton on Saturday . It will be ARIODANTE’S first run after a break but he is in good form and could run well fresh. The unknown is the trip as he will be trying 2 miles for the first time. He has run over 1 mile 6 furlongs before on the turf and appeared to stay so shouldn’t be troubled by the extra 2 furlongs on this easy track. He should like the surface as he prefers fast ground and the track at Wolverhampton is riding fast at the moment. HIGHLAND CASCADE has finally been given a chance by the handicapper as he has dropped her a few pounds. She is running over 7 furlongs again. She seemed to get the trip last time out at Kempton and should find the easier track at Wolverhampton more to her liking. If she gets a good draw she should run well.
