James Eustace had not envisaged INQUISITRESS winning in selling company half way through the season, he had rather hoped she might have been a group filly! Small fish are sweet though and she managed to finally find her level and won a selling race at Lingfield last Saturday in good style. She was sold at the subsequent auction to John Bridger and hopefully she will go on and win again for her new connections. She is a very small filly and her size is probably her limiting factor.
It was an experiment running ORCADIAN on the all weather at Lingfield and he clearly did not relish the under foot conditions. The polytrack does tend to suit fast ground horses and ORCADIAN did not find it to his liking. He will now have a short break before reverting to hurdles. He will probably have his first run at the end of December/beginning of January. James Eustace is looking forward to seeing ORCADIAN over the obstacles again as he feels he hasnít tried his best distance over hurdles yet. He has group form over 14 furlongs on the flat so you would expect him to stay 2 Ĺ miles over hurdles. The longest distance he ran over last season was 2 miles 1 furlong. After his winter jumping last year he had a very consistent year on the flat bar the one blip at Chester when he got confused seeing the stalls half way through a race! Letís hope he can have another successful hurdling campaign to prepare him for another season on the flat next year.
PLEASING GIFT is entered in various races on Friday and Saturday. She will run in whatever race she gets into. WHISTLEUPTHEWIND is back from a break and is entered in a 7 furlong fillies handicap at Wolverhampton on Saturday night. On Sunday CETSHWAYO holds an entry in a selling hurdle race at Leicester but if the weather forecast is right will be an unlikely runner as he needs goods ground and it is due to rain.
