The 2006 turf season may be over but James Eustace has assembled a strong squad for the all weather this winter. Tomorrow CAVENDISH heads for Southwell and is running in a claiming race over a mile. He ran respectably over course and distance last time out so in this class he should run well. He is a horse that is likely to be better suited by a longer distance as a 3 year old. CETSHWAYO runs in a twilight meeting at Wolverhampton tomorrow and should be suited by the course and surface. He has had a break so could just need this run but seems well in himself at home. He was dropped a few pounds by the handicapper after winning a selling race so this is his first run off this mark so could have a good chance.
On Monday FAST BOWLER is entered in a 7 furlong handicap at Lingfield. He handled the surface at Kempton last time out but had a bad draw that day. He has also had a short break and is fresh and well, ready for a winter campaign. AT THE MONEY is entered in a valuable 14 furlong handicap at Southwell on the same day. He also has an entry over 2 miles at Southwell on Wednesday but he is more likely to go for the bigger prize on Monday. He is in very good form after his good run at Newmarket recently and must have a good chance wherever he runs.
On Tuesday INQUISITRESS tries her hand in a claiming race for the first time. She has been disappointing after her promising debut at Newmarket but hopefully this drop down in class will give her a winning chance.
WESTER LODGE has been schooled over hurdles and seems to have taken to it very well. He does however have an entry on the flat at Wolverhampton next Friday over 14 furlongs. If he manages to do some more schooling before then though he may wait to run in a novice hurdle instead. The jumping string will also include ORCADIAN this winter. He does have one more flat engagement before then though. He is due to run in the 10 furlong Listed Churchill Stakes at Lingfield next Saturday, 18th November. The trip will be too short for him but connections are keen to find out if handles the surface and this is the only suitable race for him at the moment.
Last Sunday BLUE PETER RACING held their annual lunch at Park Lodge Stables and launch of the new partnership, Blue Peter Racing 7. They have bought a very attractive filly by Where or When and there are still a limited number of shares still available. More details are available on their website which can be accessed from the links page of this site.
