Orcadian back at Newbury on Saturday

Wednesday, October 18, 2006

James Eustace is looking forward to ORCADIAN running at Newbury on Saturday in the Group 3 St Simon Stakes. He has had a good mid season break and is in very good form, working well at home. Richard Hughes takes the ride, he has ridden him before winning a Listed race at Windsor on him last season. His next race after this could be back at Windsor for another Listed race. This race has been re routed from Doncaster that is closed at the moment for redevelopment.

The action today is at Nottingham and Yarmouth. Lady Galadriel runs at Nottingham in a 10 furlong maiden race. She too had a mid season break as she lost a lot of condition after 3 runs in the spring. She has kept her condition well since she came back in and has been working quite nicely so will hopefully run a decent race. Her next engagement is the Horses in Training sales at Newmarket next week. SPELLBINDING is also engaged in the sales next week but she runs at Yarmouth today in a 10 furlong 2 year old maiden. The trip will suit her as she is a potential stayer and any rain will help her cause. This is only her second run, she made her debut at Leicester last week and got a bit tired in the closing stages. She has come on for the run so can hopefully finish a bit closer today.

On Friday WESTER LODGE is entered in an apprentice race over 10 furlongs at Lingfield on the All Weather. His last race was a bit disappointing but he had blinkers on and ran bit free. They will not be on this time and he has been dropped back in trip. He just needs everything to go right in the race for him to show the best of his ability. He is well capable of winning a race of this quality. INQUISITRESS holds entries in the nursery at Lingfield on Friday and Newbury on Saturday. Her preferred option is Lingfield on the all weather but she may not get in the race.
